Norway isn't just death metal

I can't say that I see myself listening to the North American debut of 120 Days all that often.

At the same time, however, I can say that songs like "Come Out (Come Down, Fade Out, Be Gone" and "Be Mine" echo U2, circa Achtung Baby to Pop. I realize that few people have ever said something like that in a complimentary way, but, personally, Pop is about the only U2 album I can stand, and consequently I like 120 Days in the same way -- as big-sounding rock that doesn't take itself too seriously, to which you can just turn off your brain and dance. It's certainly preferable to making bland, boring, painfully stupid "statements", at the very least, and as a result it's easy to enjoy.

The band are currently in the middle of a North American tour (stopping in Ottawa for a free show on Monday), and to celebrate that Vice is giving away a prize pack. The winner will get a copy of 120 Days' album, a mixtape chosen by the band of music that's influenced their sound, and a poster and pins.
